Screwworm update: Travel from Mexico to the U.S.

We have recently received questions asking what is needed for dogs crossing the border to Mexico and returning to the U.S., specifically regarding screwworm certification.  At this time, dogs crossing the border from the U.S. to Mexico need a current Rabies certificate with a microchip number.  However, for dogs crossing the border from Mexico into the U.S., the process is a little different. 

All dogs crossing the border into the U.S. from Mexico will need: 

• A CDC form
• Current Rabies certificate with a microchip number
• Screwworm certificate obtained from an accredited veterinarian in Mexico.  The screwworm certificate must be issued within 5 days of travel.
